Boho Elopement Inspiration

I have been impatiently waiting to share this dreamy collaboration filled with rose quartz crystals and boho accents since the moment it was shot back in April. Captured in one of my favourite locations in Toronto The Great Hall, with its impeccable natural lighting,  white walls and art deco accents this space is a blank canvas waiting to be transformed.  Working with a group of industry talents like this boho dreams were destined to be created.

The shoot had  many layers to get excited about beginning with an  intimate boudoir session with our bride-to-be wearing a gorgeous bespoke bridal robe and tussled waves it made me wonder why I didn't make time for getting ready pictures like this on my own wedding day!

I always like to have a plan in place for the hairstyle when working on a styled shoot however when  I arrived on set I was completely inspired by all the props from Turkish rugs to a floral anklet, and that was before I saw the head piece I would be working with! I am a big believer of less is often more when it comes to hair and  I wanted to add a layer to the hairstyle that connected the movement and structure of the hair piece to the hairstyle and the playfulness of both outfits.

Styled shoot at The Great Hall, Toronto

I am so excited to finally be sharing this styled shoot at The Great Hall, in Toronto. Not only because the pictures are absolutely stunning, this grand old building holds such a special place in my heart! My husband was one of the former owners and it was the place of our first date where our very own love story began. The historic venue was built in 1889  and is  filled with a special kind of magic and colourful history including housing a  YMCA and the Royal Templars of Temperance. Since its recent renovations the space has been fully restored into a versatile four room event space fit for a Victorian princess to say I do.

With floor to ceiling bay windows and crisp white walls the conversation room was a limitless  backdrop for this elegant styled shoot. My inspiration for hairstyles in this styled shoot centred around the building, I  wanted to capture part of its living history, allowing the hair to reflect and play with victorian style meets 21st century..

Romantic Minimalist Styled shoot at The Great Hall

After taking a hiatus from blogging over the holidays, I am exited to jump back in this week with a gorgeous styled shoot that was shoot back in November by Corynn Fowler.  Last year Corynn and I worked on several creative projects together, we share a love for minimalist spaces and creating natural beauty.

One of Toronto’s best keep secrets the recently renovated Great Hall provided the perfect back drop for the shoot. The Great Hall blends romance and minimalism by combining high ceilings, an abundance of natural lighting and gorgeous bespoke vintage details.

My inspiration for the bridal hairstyle came from the Saja gown modelled in the shoot. The two textures of the gown were so different yet when combined together they captured the perfect mix of dreamy and elegance that many brides are seeking. I wanted to create a hairstyle that reflected the gown's elements by leaving out soft undone pieces around the face and working towards a more structured finish at the bun. I left  an undone feel to the hairstyle with minimal volume to ensure the hair looked as effortless as the gown.
